District 23 is a vast legislative district in the heart of Arizona encompassing Pinal County and parts of Maricopa and Gila County. Cities include Casa Grande, Apache Junction, Arizona City, Coolidge, Eloy, Maricopa, the Copper Basin towns of Superior, Kearny, Hayden, Winkelman, Dudleyville, Mammoth, San Manuel and Oracle, Arizona. Mrs. McGuire, native born hails from the Ray and Sonora area of Arizona, is married for 36 years to Jim McGuire. Barbara comes from a historic area of the Copper Basin that has produced the likes of Arizona;s great-late Polly Rosenbaum, current legislator Pete Rios and others, and was inspired by their records of public service. Barbara, a mother and grandmother celebrates family roots in the Copper Basin that pre-date Arizona statehood.

According to candidate McGuire,As one of the baby boomers, I have been a part of Arizona's transformation, witnessing it grow nearly four times to its present thriving state. I know the roots of these towns and many of the great hispanic, anglo and native American families that form the bedrock of our communities. I care about each citizen and am so proud of our multi-race and ethnicities that make Arizona, and particularly District 23, so rich in culture. My family itself is part of the great mixed legacy of Arizona. Arizona is a special place of many contrasts, we are experiencing much. I want to leave a place where all our children have a brighter future and all our heritages are respected, honored and thrive together. I intend to do all I can for the people of District 23 to the best of my abilities. I promise to listen to, protect, meet the needs and help the communities of District 23 and the people of Arizona. I am visiting as much of District 23 as possible and would like to encourage people to voice their concerns, visions and needs. I am here to help and make a difference.
